Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Cesc Fabregas could follow Jose Mourinho to Manchester United
Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are ready to offer Cesc Fabregas an escape route from Chelsea this summer. The 29-year-old is seemingly surplus to Antonio Conte's side in London and could follow the Portuguese manager to Old Trafford.
Mourinho has started his career at Manchester United with fireworks signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan already and he's willing to add another midfielder to the mix as he prepares to really shake up this Manchester United team.
Chelsea, meanwhile, could do without the services of Fabregas. The former Barcelona man has been a hit and miss for the Londoners and Antonio Conte was recently seen talking to two of his Spanish Chelsea teammates after the Italy vs Spain game in the UEFA European Championships. Fabregas was, shockingly, omitted from the conversation Conte had with Pedro and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Conte is also interested in signing AS Roma's midfield general, Radja Nainggolan, whom he sees as his focal point in midfield alongside someone in the ilk of Nemanja Matic or John Obi Mikel. Fabregas – a more creative option – is the kind of midfielder Conte has failed to employ during his stint as manager.
If Fabregas does move to Manchester United in the summer, he'll be representing a third English giant within a decade having already played for – and captained – Arsenal as a youngster before joining Chelsea – en route from Barcelona. The Gunners had a first-right-of-refusal clause in the Spaniard's contract that saw him switch the Emirates for the Camp Nou but failed to sign him back two summers ago having already invested greatly in Mesut Ozil the summer before.
Manchester United were interested in signing multiple Chelsea players this summer with the likes of Willian, Matic, and Fabregas all linked before but the summer transfer is still young as Mourinho ensures that he has a squad capable of challenging on all fronts this season.
