Champions League: Twitter praises Scott McTominay for his performance against Barcelona
Manchester United might have lost the game against Barcelona, but Scott McTominay's stellar performance against the Blaugrana will give the fans something positive to take home.
The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Manchester United and was integrated into the first-team by Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager was a big admirer of the Scottish international and awarded him with the Manager's Player of the Year last year.
But the Manchester United fans weren't convinced by the youngster and believed that the kid doesn't have what it takes to be a Manchester United player.
But Scott McTominay has proven his doubters wrong with recent performances, especially since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 22-year-old has been given the freedom to play his natural game and is being played in a much more advanced position, which is getting the best out of him.
The midfielder was instrumental in the second leg comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League and had a solid game in the middle of the park.
But his best performance in the United shirt came against the mighty Barcelona. McTominay bossed the middle of the park and was calm and composed even when the Barcelona players put him under pressure.
The 22-year-old won 100 per cent of his tackles and aerial duels in the middle of the park, which shows his dominance in the midfield. McTominay was quick to close down the opposition midfielders and didn't let them dictate the play, which helped Manchester United dominate the game for large periods of the game.
He was the best player on the pitch for Manchester United and was rightly awarded the Man of the Match award in the end. Manchester United fans took to Twitter, praising the youngster's performance, and here are some of the reactions.
