Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal: Player Ratings
After having an exciting thriller last week, one would have hoped for the same yet again. But it was nothing like that. The final whistle blows and the 1st leg ends in a goalless draw at the Stamford Bridge. Chelsea would feel frustrated as they had better chances between the two teams and they should have scored at least a goal in the game.
Arsene Wenger watched the game from the stands but would be available in the 2nd leg, which is in 2 weeks time for now.
Here are the player ratings from the game.
Arsenal
David Ospina - 7
Ospina made a couple of good saves to keep the Gunners in the game. He would be definitely happy after getting away from being in the no-mans land once.
Calum Chambers - 7
Chambers had a great night. The defender read the game well and even prevented a goal after Moses struck the post.
Shkodran Mustafi - 8
Probably Arsenal's best player in the field. The German international won 5 aerial duels and made 9 clearances. He held his position tight as Chelsea tried to penetrate through the defence.
Rob Holding - 5
After having a disastrous performance against Nottingham Forest, the player showed signs of improvement this time. But still, a long way to go.
Hector Bellerin - 6
He made some great runs going forward in the 1st half of the game but his fine ball was lacking. In the 2nd half, he was forced to sit back and defend as Chelsea looked more dangerous.
Jack Wilshere - 7
Wilshere captained Arsenal after a long time and played well until he was forced to come because of an injury in the 2nd half.
Granit Xhaka - 5
The 25-year-old wasted a couple of set pieces option in the 1st half. He also lacked the quality to drive the team forward.
Maitland-Niles - 5
After getting better of Moses last week, it was the other way round this time. He let Moses run past him on numerous occasions but thanks to Ospina, the damage was controlled.
Alex Iwobi - 5
One would have thought that the player would sit this game out because of partying before the Nottingham game, but he didn't. He had a disappointing night.
Danny Welbeck - 5
Starting ahead of Sanchez, the player failed to test Chelsea's defence. Apart from making a few good sprints, Welbeck offered nothing else while going forward.
Alexandre Lacazette - 5
8 games and counting. The player has failed to score in his last 8 appearances. He had a wonderful opportunity to scored but fired it over the bar.
Substitutions
Mohamed Elneny - 6
He came on for an injured Wilshere and did what he had to do. He stuck with Hazard and didn't mess up.
Alexis Sanchez - 5
Brought on in the final 25 minutes, Sanchez didn't really have much to offer.
