Chelsea 1-2 Manchester City - Rafa's too slow to react, again!

I’m still sitting here frustrated, gutted and scratching my head yet again with what happened yesterday. Chelsea never got going in the first half and City dominated us and should have been more than a goal up.

I said yesterday that it was important that we start well, get our foot on the ball and impose our game as soon as possible, but it never happened. Apart from the odd glimpse late on in the first half, Chelsea were second best.

So, we look to kick on in the second half. We are a goal down and need to come up with something different to take the game to City, but woeful defending once again costs us as Aguero scores on 47-48 minutes, literally minutes after the restart!

At this point, this early in the game, Rafa MUST make changes and take a more attacking direct approach, but once again he waits for 20 minutes before a change is made!. I cannot, for the life of me, understand it?

As soon as we go two down, Torres or Moses should have been brought on in an instant. We look to the manager to get people going again, to encourage but he sits on the bench, no reaction and writes his notes down!

I have posted previously on here a couple of months ago, exposing NINE games Chelsea had lost points in and the decisions before games with team selection and during games with substitutions – decisions that have baffled me – and yesterday was yet another one.

I take a lot of stick on here from Rafa supporters but I refuse to admit I am wrong when I personally don’t believe I am. He has moaned that the Chelsea fans against him have had an effect on the players. Yesterday over 31,000 Chelsea fans were right there, supporting the players and behind the team.

Surely you all thought the same as me as we went 2-0 down? Surely you could see that we needed to change things right at that moment to try and get back in the game? Surely you are just as frustrated as I am with how long it took us to get back in it?

Don’t give me this bull about the games we have played and the players being tired either! Chelsea finished the stronger of the two sides, so having the legs was not a problem.

The players weren’t up and at it in the first half. Our defending for both goals was a complete joke and even though he keeps saying it, Rafa hasn’t done anything to work on our defensive positions.

Chelsea were lacking in all sorts of areas in the first half and lacked direction and leadership both on and off the pitch. We missed John Terry‘s leadership and organisation at the back and at times, looked like headless chickens!

That was a REAL chance for Chelsea to progress yesterday. We needed to play our football for 90 minutes and not for the last 25 minutes. It was too little, too late from Rafa Benitez and the players and yet another competition we have been eliminated from with a whimper this season!.

Maybe only when we possibly finish outside the top four, some people will finally see what I have been saying for weeks!.

Carefree & KTBFFH!
