Rumour: Chelsea chasing Paris Saint-Germain star Ezequiel Lavezzi
Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to renew his interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi as he aims to bolster his lacklustre front-line.
Mourinho has been let down thus far this season by his three strikers in Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and the rather injury-prone, Samuel Eto’o. The Portuguese coach has made it publicly known he plans to reinforce his front-line this summer.
Samuel Eto’o is set to leave the club in the summer after various problems with Mourinho, particularly after Eto’o called Mourinho a ‘fool’ recently.
The ‘Special One’ is already on the verge of tying down a move for Diego Costa, but he is also interested in prizing away Argentinian star, Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to the Daily Mail.
Mourinho managed to sell Luiz to PSG for nearly £50 million on the weekend and he is hoping a good relationship with the French side after the Luiz deal will tempt them to do business again.
The former Napoli winger joined the French outfit in 2012 and has excelled during his time at the club. However, Lavezzi has failed to build on his impressive first season at the club with another former Napoli man, in Edinson Cavani, providing stiff competition in his position.
Lavezzi was recently reinstated into the starting XI and faced Mourinho’s Blues, a game in which he played brilliantly at the Parc des Princes. Mourinho was impressed by the Argentine’s performance and he is looking to make a bid for the forward in the summer transfer window.
