Mourinho's prayers finally answered after Diego Costa is left out of Spain squad

Costa has been left out of Spain’s squad

Star striker Diego Costa has been left out of Spain’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers which are scheduled for next week. Costa scored his first goal for Spain last month against Luxembourg in their 4-0 win. He has been left out of the squad to help him recover from his recent injuries. Spain are going to be up against Belarus and World Champions Germany next week.

“I have spoken to our doctors and those of Chelsea and I have decided to leave him out due to the situation with his pelvis,” Del Bosque told a news conference on Friday. “He may be able to play Chelsea’s next game against Liverpool  but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some type of injury problem.”

Del Bosque added: “We have reached a decision with Chelsea’s medical staff that we will take a break due to his groin issues. It has nothing to do with whether he later plays for his club. He always wants to come with us, but we have spoken and this is the best for his health.”

Costa’s selection in Spain’s squad last month for their qualifiers led to a row with Jose Mourinho as Costa was recovering from injuries and was not totally fit, which could be seen as he missed the following 4 games for Chelsea. It looks like Del Bosque did not want any further trouble with Mourinho as he played it safe by leaving Costa out this time.
