Reports: Chelsea to move in for 30-year-old Serie A star
What's the story?
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has not been happy with the transfer business conducted by the Blues in the summer transfer window, but now latest reports in The Express claim that the Premier League champions are favourites to complete a stunning deal for AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci.
David Luiz has been out of favour at Chelsea and Bonucci could be the ideal replacement for the Brazilian.

In case you didn't know...
Bonucci enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Juventus under Antonio Conte. Arguably the best centre-back in the world, the Italian hasn't hit the same heights at AC Milan and perhaps a change of league scenario is what is needed.
Although the 30-year-old star made a move only in the summer transfer window, a move to Chelsea will be hard to turn d.
The heart of the matter
Bonucci was at the heart of the very impressive Juventus defence from 2010-2017 before making a surprising move to Milan in the summer transfer window. The 30-year-old was courted by a number of top Premier League clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea in the summer and it seems like the long due move might well come to fruition in the January transfer window.
Brilliant on the ball and blessed with excellent positioning awareness, Bonucci also has the experience of playing under Conte and it will certainly help tighten Chelsea's somewhat porous back-line if they sign the Italian.

Bonucci last season was arguably the best central defender in world football.
Author's take
While Bonucci has not been at his best this season for Milan, there is no denying his obvious quality and skill on the ball. With David Luiz being offered in return, Milan might be forced to let go of their captain.
The combination of Bonucci and Conte in the Premier League is certainly a mouth-watering prospect.
