Chelsea five-a-side XI: Which Blues silky attackers make the cut?

Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard and Juan Mata: All make the cut

If you could pick your team’s best five players, who would they be? This is a hot topic amongst fans all around the world. Supporters also roundly build and pick their favourite sides and squads. Something regularly debated is which players would make a five-a-side team.

With Chelsea having, arguably, one of the best squads in world football, it would be good to compare stats to see who would make the Blues’ best five-a-side team. Who knows, you may even see them down at your local football pitch?

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech

An easy one, really. Cech’s only competition is Mark Schwarzer who would not oust the superb Czech. If you wanted to twist the rules slightly, Thibaut Courtois could come into contention due to him being at Atletico Madrid on loan from Chelsea.

Key stat: Cech has a claim success rate of 100% from all of his 14 Premier League appearances this season.

Defender: David Luiz

A maverick and a unique talent, David Luiz would be fantastic in five-a-side. His defensive ability paired with his attacking intent would be perfect in a five-a-side match. Being a Brazilian, he also has excellent close control, which again, would be important in such close quarters.

Key stat: Luiz has completed all four of his take ons in the league this season.

Midfielder: Frank Lampard

Lampard just edges Ramires due to his better performances this season and his goalscoring ability. Both are clever and composed in front of goal but it is Lampard who just gets the decision. Lampard has three goals to his name this season, while Ramires is yet to score. The Englishman (18) has also created more chances than Ramires (16).

Key stat: Lampard has a shooting accuracy of 48% this season which is far better than Ramires’ 22%.

Forwards: Eden Hazard & Juan Mata

Both players are exceptionally talented and are picked ahead of any of the strikers at the club due to their misfiring form. Mata has been in and out of the Chelsea team this season but has still managed to assist two goals. Hazard and Mata have, combined, created 55 chances in the league this season.

Key stat: Eden Hazard has scored six goals in the Premier League this season, last season he scored nine Premier League goals.

How is that for a five-a-side team? Do you agree with it?
