Chelsea 2-2 (3-3) PSG: Knocked out - We got exactly what we deserved
I don't want to read match reports. I don't want to listen to the views of TV Pundits or read other Chelsea Blogs, I just want to have my say and let my immediate reactions tell you the story of tonight.
That right there, was one of the worst home performances in Europe I have ever seen from us and we got exactly what we deserved from the game - NOTHING!
No passion, no desire, no pace in our game and apart from Eden Hazard, Chelsea were toothless. What the fuck has happened to us tonight??
Even when Ibrahimovic was sent off and PSG were down to ten men, Chelsea just sat back and allowed Verratti and Motta to boss and dominate the midfield.
PSG wanted it more, they were hungry and played their football with desire. Chelsea were the total opposite. It was almost as if we thought they would not score against us and we would just play the game out to go through and that is far from good enough.
Once I saw Diego Costa have a real pop at his team mates to up their game, to show some spirit and it never happened. I cannot emphasise enough how awful we were tonight.
It was typical that David Luiz pops up with a Drogba-esque bullet header into the roof of the net after getting stick all game from Costa and the Chelsea fans. What better way to answer his critics. He has had a lot to say this week but he put in a performance that none of the Chelsea players could match.
Even their second goal was a total joke. Literally seconds before, Silva met a cross into the box unmarked and forced Courtois into a save. Seconds later with the likes of Costa, Cahill, Drogba, Ivanovic and Zouma in the box to defend and win the header, Silva again rises unchallenged to head PSG into the next round! Shocking defending for BOTH PSG goals but pretty much summed up our night!
Cesc Fabregas called for Chelsea to kill when they have to kill in his pre-match press conference and Chelsea were miles away from doing so. We score to take hold of the game and cannot defend a set piece to take the game to extra time.
We score again in extra time and you think to yourselves ‘OK, relax, organise and see the game out” and we cannot do that as we get caught for a second time from a set piece!’
The most disappointing thing here is the way we played against ten men. We stood off of PSG and allowed them to bring the ball out of defence. We allowed them to move the ball into midfield under no pressure whatsoever. It was scandalous and a joke!
How we could let PSG's Verratti and Motta dominate is beyond me. They both were allowed to pick their passes all game.
What we also have to realise is that if Edinson Cavani could actually finish, we would have been dead and buried over the two games and this would not have even moved into extra time.
PSG were the better side in BOTH games and deserved to go through.
Chelsea's performance was bulls**t.
