Chelsea set to sign Samuel Eto'o

Samuel Eto’o joins Chelsea

Chelsea are set to sign Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o on a free transfer. The 32-year-old will be joining the Blues on a one year deal, according to BBC.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had earlier indicated that if they fail in their pursuit of bringing Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney to Stamford Bridge, which they did with both their bids for the 27-year-old, they would shift their interest towards Eto’o.

Eto’o had already played under Mourinho in his time with Inter Milan, following his move from Barcelona, where he had previously won two Champions League titles and three La Liga titles.

From Inter Milan, Eto’o joined the Russian club Anzhi, to become the highest-paid player in the world, reportedly earning £167,825 a week in 2011.

However, it is understood that he will be taking a pay cut to facilitate a move to Stamford Bridge.
