Chelsea target Edinson Cavani will stay at PSG, says President Nasser Al-Khelaifi
Paris Saint-Germain President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said that Edinson Cavani is not going to be sold in the transfer window.
Cavani joined PSG last summer from Napoli for a reported fee of €64.5 million, but has failed to live up to expectations often playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Despite being deployed out of his preferred position, he has managed to score 16 goals and provide 2 assists for Le Parisiens helping them retain the Ligue 1 title.
With rumours of him being unhappy at the French capital and PSG being fined by UEFA for breaking the Financial Fair Play Rules, there were rumours that PSG will be forced to sell some of their players in order to recoup some money. However, Club President Nasser Al-Khelaifi remains defiant that Cavani will stay, and spoke about former Chelsea center-back Alex who is in talks with the club to sign a new contract.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Al-Khelaifi was qouted by Here Is The City, “We’ve accepted UEFA’s sanctions and it’s not down to me to say whether they’re fair or not. We will buy the players we want to buy. We don’t need many players as we’ve already got very strong players.”
“Cavani will stay and I want Alex to sign on for another year,” he insisted.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in the striker and if the striker is unhappy then PSG might be forced to sell him.
