Chelsea transfer rumours: John Terry could be offered player-coach role at Brondby

John Terry could become a manager very soon if Brondby continue pursuing him

Chelsea captain John Terry could be pencilled in as a player-coach at Danish club Brondby once his contract with the Londoners expires in the summer. Terry, who has expressed quite openly that he would like to stay with his boyhood club, has not yet been offered fresh terms by the Chelsea management.

The central defender, who returned to the team against Everton after a spell out due to injury, spoke to the media after Chelsea's 1-0 win over Arsenal in February and said that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season as he had not been offered an extension, and that it didn't look to be forthcoming, as the management wanted the new manager to come in the summer and make his own team.

According to a report in the Mirror, Terry could be offered the manager's role at Brondby, as the club's owner Jan Bech Andersen is a friend of Terry's and has reportedly spoken to him about taking over as manager at the club. The club have temporarily put Aurelijus Skarbalius in charge afte former manager Thomas Frank left the club after a disagreement with Andersen.

Brondby are one of the biggest clubs in Denmark and have money at their disposal to go out and sign big names. The team already have former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger playing for them. They can surely afford to appoint Terry, and can also offer him the role of a player-coach should he insist on continuing his playing career.

Potential interest from Middle east and China

Following his admission that he would most probably be leaving the club, Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola had said that there would be a lot of interest in Terry's services from different quarters. Zola, who is currently managing Al-Arabi, also said that he himself would like to bring Terry to the middle east and that there were many clubs from the region who would want to sign him.

The Chinese market is another very lucrative option for the Chelsea captain as teams in the Chinese Super League have the money to get him, and would definitely be eager to see and try if they can lure him to their club.

Whatever be the case, John Terry will be a wanted man in the summer, and will have to assess his options carefully, irresrespective of whether he is offered a new deal by Chelsea or not. With just over a month and a half to go for the season to finish, he will be hoping to have his future sorted soon.
