Chelsea transfer rumour: West Ham United plot a January move for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas
West Ham United is plotting a move for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in January if the player is not able to secure a regular first-team football at the Bridge under manager Antonio Conte.
Fabregas was a substitute for the first five Premier League matches for Chelsea. The player made his first start of the season in the 4-2 win in the League Cup against Premier League champions Leicester City, wherein he found the back of the net twice. However, he was not able to replicate this form during the match against former club Arsenal where the Gunners run riot in a 3-0 victory.
West Ham may be willing to offer the midfielder an escape road from the Bridge in January as they try to recover from a rough start to their debut season at Olympic Stadium. An ex-World Cup winner will be a helpful addition to their midfield, which has been found lacking so far.

A product of the Barcelona youth academy where he spent six years and the Arsenal youth system whom he joined in 2003 and Fabregas went on to become the Gunner’s captain in 2008, after making into the first team in 2005-2006 season. He moved back to Barcelona in August 2011, where he spent the three subsequent seasons.
The player joined Chelsea in June 2014 on a five-year contract in a deal worth €33m, from Barca. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has struggled to find a role for Fabregas in his squad despite the player’s excellent displays in the past. After the defeat against Arsenal the Italian manager’s dilemma is all but increased as he tries to deploy Spaniard in a role that will not expose the team.
West Ham is monitoring the player’s situation, and signing the former Barcelona player will surely inject life to their midfield. Further, after being subject to the bench, a move out of the club for a regular first team opportunity elsewhere will be a tempting offer for the player.
A versatile player who can take up the role of a winger and a playmaker with excellent technique, ball control, vision and passing ability, Fabregas is a prominent midfielder. He would be a magnificent signing for the Hammers, a team of Payet, Fabregas and Antonio will be a lethal combination in the midfield at West Ham if the latter is successful in bringing the Spaniard to the Olympic Stadium.
