Chelsea U18 pulls off phenomenal comeback against Tottenham to reach Youth Cup final
The Chelsea U18 team registered an impressive comeback against Tottenham to progress to the FA Youth Cup finals. The Chelsea boys went into the second leg needing to overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg and accomplished the feat after a hard fought 5-2 win against their London rivals.
The defending champions’ bid to progress suffered an early blow when Spurs’ Shayon Harrison opened the scoring on the 40th minute with a spectacular effort.
The Blues fought back with two goals apiece by Dominic Solanke and Charlie Colkett while Izzy Brown scored the fifth. Chelsea U18 Colkett alongside the England under 17 international Jay Dasilva were the standout performers for the home side on the day.
The Chelsea boys will face the winner of the two-legged tie between Manchester City and Leicester City in the finals. City looks the likelier with a three goal advantage going into the return leg.
The Chelsea senior team too is best placed to win the Premier League with Manchester City being the closest competitors. The Blues hold a six-point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand.
