Chelsea's Eden Hazard is the most fouled player in 2014-15 Premier League season
Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard is officially the most fouled player in the Premier League. As per Opta stats, the Belgian has been fouled a total of 74 times this year, which works out to roughly three times per game.
The Belgian, who recently signed a new deal with Chelsea, has been one of the stand-out players for his club this season.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho seemed to be aware of the opposition’s tendency to be bring down his star player unfairly. Mourinho, speaking to the press last month, said, “The first free-kick of every game is somebody kicking him.”
“He has fouls and fouls and fouls. I don't see many yellow cards. Sometimes a yellow card is a consequence of violent conduct, but I also think that accumulation of small fouls is also violent conduct. The kid is suffering the consequences of that, but playing amazingly well.”
Sterling and Sanchez the other big players on the list
Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling has been subjected to 60 fouls this season, behind Hazard’s 74. The surprise name in the list is Everton’s Scottish striker Steven Naismith with 52.
