Christian Eriksen rejects Bayer Leverkusen in favour of Liverpool
Christian Eriksen’s rejection to move to Bayer Laverkusen was encouraging for Liverpool as they have been chasing the midfielder for a while now.
The Ajax star was given a whopping £15.5 million offer by Leverkusen, who are coached by the Sami Hyypia. But the offer was rejected by the player, with Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots saying in an interview : “Christian will only leave Ajax on sporting grounds, that’s his main criteria.”
Eriksen indicated that he would remain with the Dutch side and sign a new contract if his ambitions are not met while signing for another club.
Ajax’s coach, Frank de Boer, further stated that he doesn’t want to come in between his player’s sporting career, and has given Eriksen the freedom to choose which club he would want to go to enhance his young career.
“It is up to Christian what he wants,” said De Boer. “If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him.
“I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.
“But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can’t stop him.”
