Contract talks: John Terry in talks over new Chelsea deal
John Terry has revealed that there is a dialogue going on between himself and Chelsea in regards to a new contract and confirmed that he wishes to see out his playing career at Stamford Bridge.
Terry’s contract expires at the end of the season and Chelsea were wary of offering fresh terms to the 33-year-old as they look to build for the future, but an impressive season at the heart of Jose Mourinho’s defence has forced their hand and a new deal is being prepared.
Fellow long-term servant Frank Lampard looks set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, but Terry has claimed he has no intention of leaving the Blues anytime soon and that talks over a new deal are ongoing.
Terry told reporters, “It’s a club I’ve been at since I was 14 and I want to stay here for the rest of my footballing days.
“Talks are going on, but obviously we’ve had a lot of big games, so we’ve not spoken for a few weeks.
“They know I want to stay, I’ve made that very clear to them. Hopefully it can be sorted by the end of the season.
“I certainly feel I’ve got something to give next year and after that I don’t know, but I certainly hope so.”
