Copa America 2019: 'There is no room for error against Argentina'- Brazil star cautious ahead of semi-final clash
What's the story?
Brazil goal-keeper Alisson Becker remains cautious ahead of crucial semi-final clash against arch-rivals Argentina, stating that there will be no room for errors during the match.
In case you didn't know...
Argentina had a disastrous start to their Copa America campaign but they have recovered from their early stutter slowly and steadily. Following their defeat against Colombia and draw against Paraguay, their performances have only improved. In their last knock-out game, the Albiceleste managed to secure a 2-0 win over Venezuela to book a spot in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Brazil are unbeaten in the ongoing Copa America 2019. They enjoyed two solid wins and a draw in the group stages before defeating Paraguay 4-3 on penalty-shootouts. After a solid start in the tournament, Brazil looked unconvincing in their latest win against Paraguay.
Both the bitter rivals have faced each other over 100 times in all fixtures. The Albiceleste will be hoping to end their trophy drought after they lost two consecutive Copa America finals in 2015 and 2016. Their next game will prove to be quite the test as they are set to face rivals Brazil for the first time since 2007.
The heart of the matter
Alisson has faced Lionel Messi's Barcelona quite a few times both with Roma and Liverpool in the Champions League. He believes there is no room for error when they face Argentina.
Speaking in a news conference, Alisson said:
"I have confidence in my team, in my work, in the conviction that we are going to make a great game, we have to be prepared for everything."
"Roma and Liverpool were both very different. Fortunately they were two happy stories for my side."
"I was on two teams that played collectively. Our team has played like this, as a team, with a relationship. I have now lived two important experiences."
"But in a game like this there is no room for error against Argentina, everyone has to give their best."
What's next?
The much-anticipated Copa America semi-final clash between Argentina and hosts Brazil will be on July 3 at 6.00AM (IST).
