Cristiano Ronaldo agrees new contract with Real Madrid until 2018
Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2018, the club announced on its official website.
Ronaldo and club president Florentino Perez will appear in the Royal Box at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon at 1.45pm local time.
Spanish media reported that Ronaldo’s new deal extends his contract by three years. The new deal will see his net annual salary rise to €17 million.
Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United in 2009 for what was then a world record fee of €94 million.
The 28-year-old has scored 203 goals in 203 matches for the Los Blancos, helping them to a La Liga title in the 2011-12 season and a Spanish FA Cup (King’s Cup) triumph in 2011, but falling short in the Champions League.
Real Madrid broke the transfer record again earlier this month when they signed Wales winger Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur for €100 million.
