Portugal are still on a high after their Euro 2016 victory and with the World Cup qualifiers on-going, the team decided to blow off some steam with their sole goal to conquer the internet.

Some of you may know that the internet has been swept by a new viral craze called The Mannequin Challenge - similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and other such fads. A number of football teams have taken part in this challenge including the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Sunderland.

This time around, though, Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese decided to take centre stage. The video shows all the Portuguese players and staff in various situations and positions which are quite amusing. Cristiano Ronaldo is in the centre of the dressing room, of course without his shirt and only in his pants with a rather funny look on his face. Everyone including Renato Sanches, William Carvalho, Jose Fonte and Andre Gomes got involved.

From the looks of things, it is safe to say that Portugal have superbly nailed the challenge and it’s certainly one of the best by any football team around.

Portugal are in good form and are flowing with confidence ahead of their World Cup Qualifier against Latvia on Sunday. They have won their last two games 6-0 against Andorra and Faroe Islands and are second in Group B. They should be looking to repeat the same against minnows Latvia, while Portuguese defender Jose Fonte thinks they can still improve.

The Portuguese face Hungary after Latvia in their qualifiers and are looking to qualify for the next World Cup to be held in Russia in 2018, as soon as possible.

Portugal have a number of players performing well, including Bayern Munich teenager Renato Sanches and this is what Fonte had to say about Portugal’s youngsters, “We have young players to grow with high quality, but need time to enhance this quality.”

“With games, with minutes, with more experience, it will be possible. It is with optimism that we look at all these young people,” he added.

Portugal are surely not going to rest on their laurels after winning the European Championship this year and will be looking to lift the World Cup come July 2018. Ronaldo and co. have put in some seriously good performances in the qualifiers and will definitely be considered title contenders when the time comes.
