Daily transfer news and rumours roundup - 16th November 2016
Here are the top transfer stories and rumours from 16th November 2016 featuring Chelsea’s audacious move for AC Milan’s prodigy. Elsewhere, Manchester United have a new number one target for their right back slot after The Red Devil scouts were spotted at an international friendly last night.
Arsenal are in the news today as well after they made initial contacts to sign AS Roma’s midfield superstar. Sticking with Premier League’s theme, John Terry and Frank Lampard are set for new roles in their career and unfortunately for Blues supporters, it does not involve Chelsea.
Chelsea eye Courtois’ replacement
Chelsea have contacted AC Milan to sign the highly rated goal-keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma amid uncertainties surrounding Thibaut Courtois’ future at the club. Courtois has often been linked with a move back to La Liga which has prompted the Blues to consider their options ahead of next summer.
As per Daily Star, AC Milan have put a £100million release clause in Donnarumma’s contract but given Milan’s falling stakes, we may see the youngster get tempted with a move to the Premier League.
Leandro Paredes on his way to Arsenal?
Arsene Wenger has kept close tabs on the AS Roma midfielder to strengthen his midfield, according to reports from The Sun. The Gunners are looking to bring the hard tackling Paredes to provide able back-up to the likes of Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla and bring more options to Arsenal's midfield.
According to The Sun, Wenger has already been in touch with Paredes’ representatives in Italy with a January bid looming large.
Varane ends Mourinho’s reunion hopes
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has ended all hopes of Manchester United signing him in coming seasons after the Frenchman expressed his desire of staying on with Real Madrid and becoming their future captain.
Varane has had to fight for a starting XI place against Pepe and Sergio Ramos but the young defender is prepared to slog it out under Zinedine Zidane and prove his worth at club and at international level.
Chelsea ready to sell Oscar
Chelsea are prepared to sell their playmaker Oscar to make room to sign a world class midfield star in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato. The report claims that Antonio Conte does not see Oscar as part of his long-term plans after settling with Pedro, Eden Hazard and Willian as the wide attackers to support Diego Costa.
Oscar has failed to cement a place in Chelsea’s starting XI and is expected to quit the club along with Cesc Fabregas. At this moment, Inter Milan are interested in signing the Brazilian.
Terry urged to join Chinese Super League
John Terry is a target for Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG after former Chelsea boss Andres Villas-Boas took over at the club earlier this month. Terry has not started a game for Chelsea since his injury against Swansea earlier this season and has been limited to a squad player behind David Luiz and Gary Cahill.
Terry is in the last year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and can enter negotiations with a club in January for a move away from the club next summer.
Man United scouts present for Ivory Coast game
Manchester United have expressed their interest in signing the PSG right-back Serge Aurier, according to reports from France Football. The reports claim that United scouts were present during Ivory Coast’s 0-0 draw vs France last night which has further sparked Aurier’s rumours of moving to Old Trafford in January or perhaps in the summer.
United are struggling to find a proper solution to their full-back areas and see Aurier as the ideal option to sign in January.
Lampard soon to become a manager
Former Chelsea great Frank Lampard is ready to make his comeback to English football but in the capacity of manager of the League One side M.K. Dons, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Lampard is also linked with a move to Chelsea as a back-room staff but M.K. Dons are prepared to offer Lampard an early route into management. The decision still rests with the former England midfielder, who is expected to clear the air about his future in coming weeks.
