Daily transfer news and rumours roundup - 4th May 2017
Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda’s daily transfer news and rumours roundup for 4th May 2017. Today’s biggest transfer stories from Europe surround the future of Antoine Griezmann and Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, along with Manchester United’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper. Let’s head right in.
Bayern Munich hold talks with Arsenal’s star goalscorer
According to the Daily Mirror, Bayern Munich have held talks with Arsenal’s Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez over a potential move to the Allianz Arena. Sanchez has 12 months remaining on his contract and a number of clubs in Europe including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation, however, Bayern seem to be the front-runners at the moment after meeting with the player’s agent.
Antoine Griezmann update
The biggest story that broke today was that of Antoine Griezmann reportedly agreeing personal terms with Manchester United. The Sun reported that the Frenchman agreed a £280,000-a-week deal with United with the Manchester club ready to cough up his £89 million release clause.
However, according to Sky Sports sources, four other unnamed European clubs are in the race to sign him as well. Sky Sports also states that the Red Devils have NOT reached personal terms with Griezmann yet. The reports suggest that Griezmann’s representatives favour a move only to a club who will be in the Champions League next season.
There is still a chance of United signing the Frenchman if they qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League. Griezmann, though, is definitely set to move come the summer.
Manchester United line up AC Milan keeper
Manchester United are preparing to replace David De Gea with AC Milan wonder kid Gianluigi Donnarumma. Calciomercato report that United, Juventus and Real Madrid are all looking into signing Donnarumma.
The youngster is in line to receive a new contract with Milan worth €3.2 million-per-year, however, the player’s agent Mino Raiola wants his client to earn at least €4m-per-year and is looking at offers from other clubs.
Joe Hart, Kasper Schmeichel and Jan Oblak are other potential targets for the Red Devils.
Barcelona to make new Coutinho offer
Barcelona are preparing to make a bid of up to £51 million for Philippe Coutinho to lure the young Brazilian to the Nou Camp. Sport report that Barcelona are desperate to sign the player from Liverpool and despite Coutinho signing a new contract this season, the Catalans are prepared to offer him huge wages.
However, Liverpool will be keen on holding on to their star midfielder and the move might not materialise this summer.
PSG meet with Aubameyang
Bild in Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain. According to the German media outlet, Aubameyang and his representatives met with PSG’s sporting director Patrick Kluivert and the Parisian club are in advanced talks to sign the Gabonese striker.
The amount that PSG will have to pay is rumoured to be around €70 million and the deal could be finalised after the German Cup final on the 27th of May.
