Summer Transfer Window may be over and January transfer window is still a couple of months from opening but it has never and will never stop the speculation market to put an end to transfer rumours. These are the times when players begin to realize they are no longer a part of their manager’s plans and it is better for them to seek a move elsewhere then to get benched week-in-week-out.
Teams around Europe have already started to plan their transfer activities for January which has given us plenty to talk about in our daily dose of transfer news and rumours. On that note, we take a look at all the major transfer news and rumours making headlines for 27th September 2016.
Antoine Griezmann hints at Manchester United transfer
Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United misery could be put to an end after Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has hinted towards a potential move to Old Trafford next summer. According to 101greatgoals, Griezmann spoke with Spanish radio station Onda Cero and stressed on his strong friendship with Paul Pogba. United see Griezmann as the ideal replacement for Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and to be club’s leading striker in coming future.
Elseid Hysaj’s U-turn on Arsenal
Arsenal have been dealt a major blow to their hopes of signing Napoli’s right back Elseid Hysaj after the talented 22-year-old has decided to extend his contract with the Serie A side. According to Football Italia, Gunners saw Hysaj as the ideal replacement to Hector Bellerin, who is linked with a move away to Barcelona, however, Hysaj has now grown tired of being the alternative option to Arsenal and will pen a new deal until 2021 with Napoli.
AC Milan to ruin Manchester United’s double deal
Italian side AC Milan are favorites to sign Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid’s Isco who are also linked with a move to Manchester United this summer. According to Gazzetta, Milan have identified Bakayoko and Isco as the potential targets for January transfer window who can bring them back into the Serie A title race.
Although United have expressed interest in signing both midfielders but the players are inclined towards joining Milan in order to get more playing time.
Chelsea move in for Tottenham’s defender
Chelsea are weighing up a move for Tottenham defender Ben Davies in January, according to reports from ESPN FC. Blues manager is tired of seeing his defense get ripped apart week after week and has identified Davies as the ideal man to sort out the mess. Davies, 23 is currently second choice left-back at Tottenham behind Danny Rose and is capable of playing across all positions in back four.
It is believed that Conte would revert to his favorite 3-5-2 formation with Davies being deployed in back three with Azpilicueta and Alonso as his wing backs.
Escape route offered to Man United’s £25 million flop
Memphis Depay’s Manchester United career could very well be over after the flash midfielder has failed to impress the new manager Jose Mourinho this season. According to talksport, AC Milan are ready to gamble on the Dutchman and are even willing to match the £25 million offer which United paid to PSV for his services back in 2014. Memphis has never looked comfortable in Premier League and is considering his options to quit Old Trafford in January or in the summer.
Stephane Sessegnon has a new club
Former West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon has signed for French side Montpellier on a two-year contract. Sessegnon was a free agent after quitting West Brom earlier this summer. The 32-year-old was linked with Arsenal last season but saw a drastic drop in his form and was eventually sent packing by the Baggies.
