Daily transfer updates- 4th August 2012
Manchester City are poised to firm up interest in Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi with a £20million offer. The Italy star, 29, has been on Roberto Mancini’s wishlist for 18 months and only signed a five-year contract in February.
Liverpool are in talks with Daniel Agger, 27, over a new deal despite claims from his agent that they have made no offer. Barcelona and Manchester City are keen on the central defender and have already had offers dismissed. Interest is said to be high for the defender who is seen as a long term replacement for Puyol at Barcelona and is also in Mancini’s plans for no apparent reasons.
Robin van Persie has decided he will go to Arsenal‘s training camp in Germany next week even though Juventus have set a deadline for a potential move.
The striker’s switch to the Italian giants is in doubt with Van Persie set to play in a friendly against Cologne on August 12. Van Persie’s agent Kees Vos was told by Juventus that a deal needed to be agreed by August 7 if he was to come to Arsenal.
If he does not go to Juventus, Van Persie has options within England in the form of the two Manchester clubs.
The Dutchman prefers a move to Man United over Man City but Sir Alex Ferguson is dubious about paying more than £15million for the 29-year-old.
Ashley Cole is a surprise target for rapacious player-slurpers Paris St-Germain, who are willing to offer the full-back a thumping three-year deal to tempt him away from Chelsea, where he is in the final year of his contract. The loveable touchline-hugger is believed to be a bit miffed, bearing in mind his imminent free-agentness, that his current employers are yet to knock on his door bearing a new contract, and a Paris-bound strop cannot therefore be ruled out.
