Paris St Germain have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Sao Paulo for the transfer of midfielder Lucas Moura.
The 19-year-old will remain with the Brazilian side until January before linking up with Carlo Ancelotti’s side on a four-and-a-half-year deal. Moura, had been a target of Manchester United, but the two clubs failed to agree on a fee for the teenager.
PSG representatives said:
” Paris St Germain and Sao Paulo FC have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva. The player and Paris St Germain have signed a contract from January 2013 to June 2017. Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Arsenal are refusing to budge on a £15million Manchester United bid for Robin van Persie as he lost out on another transfer target, teenage Brazilian Lucas Moura, to big-spending Paris St Germain.
Asked if there was any progress with the Dutch international, Ferguson said: ‘We have made a bid but Arsenal are trying to negotiate with other clubs. We just have to persevere and hope things come our way.’
Manchester City have checked on Brazil striker and Spurs target Leandro Damiao, 23.
Spurs are considering resurrecting their attempts to sign long-term target Damiao whilst they continue to be frustrated in their move to sign City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent deal.
Spurs have shown a positive demeanor after the appointing of new head coach Andre Vilas-Boas and have been constantly nagging away at all their targets, despite now possessing the money-spending power of their rivals.
Raul Meireles looks set for another transfer in his career as Napoli have emerged as possible suitors for the Portugese midfielder who had a stunning season at Liverpool a couple of years ago that brought him into the spotlight, only to slip away after a slow-paced career with Chelsea. Chelsea have brought in a lot of big names this summer and are looking to offload some from their present crop.
Napoli are in discussions to sign the midfielder who is rated at £8million.
