Austria's David Alaba extends his Bayern Munich contract until 2018

21-year-old Austria international David Alaba today extended his running contract with German Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich by another three-years to keep him at the club until June 30, 2018.

“David has developed magnificently as a player since he came to FC Bayern as a 16-year-old. Nowadays he rates as one of the best and most successful full-backs in Europe. We are delighted we can continue to count on him and his efforts for the club,” commented Bayern München chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The Vienna-Born David Alaba, whose mother is from the Philippines and his father from Nigeria, started his football career with local side SV Aspern before shifting to FK Austria Vienna and as a 16-year-old shifted to Bayern Munich as one of Austria’s biggest-ever football talents.

“I’ve been here at FC Bayern since 2008. It became my club a long time ago,” stated treble winner David Alaba. “I’m delighted everything is settled now and I have the opportunity to play here for this club at least until 2018.2

“We’re delighted both parties have signed this long-term agreement,” said FC Bayern München AG executive board director Jan-Christian Dreesen, the club’s negotiating partner in the talks with David Alaba’s management. “David is an important component in our team. The contract until 2018 shows we all have a great interest in continuity and our sporting prospects over the years to come.”
