David Beckham wants to sign Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo for his new Miami team
Former England captain David Beckham wants Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo to be his first superstar signing for his new Miami team, according to Metro.
The 38-year-old recently confirmed his capture of a new MLS franchisee based in Miami, Florida and he is planning to recruit some of the best players in order to increase the stature of his club.
A source from the MLS revealed: “Becks [David Beckham] understands the need for a big, big name in the team when it gets going. And none come bigger than Ronaldo — the world’s greatest player.”
“Ronaldo loves America and all that it offers.”
It is also being said that a deal between Real Madrid and David Beckham is on the cards for Ronaldo’s transfer to the Miami-based club in three years’ time.
“It’s not a secret he has thought about finishing his career here, about living here — so a deal like this could be perfect for him.”
“It is a long way off yet — we’re talking 2017 — but it clearly demonstrates the ambition of the Beckham franchise.”
David Beckham is said to be highly ambitious with his new project, and has already revealed his plans to build a world-class stadium to host the franchise.
“I want to make this my own team,” said David Beckham. “We’re planning to bring a team that will be a global team.”
I want to create a team that we can start from scratch and I am going to work hard for this city to make this team very successful. It is an exciting time. We will bring great players in. The fortunate thing about my career is players are already interested in coming to Miami.”
