David Beckham tipped for Paris Saint-Germain role
The departure of Leonardo as director of football has left a void in Paris Saint-Germain and David Beckham could be the person to fill it, as the president of the club has asserted “nothing will slow us down”.
The 38-year-old star, who ended his career on a high by helping the French giants win the Ligue 1 title, has reportedly already held talks with the club about extending his stay at the Parc des Princes.
Beckham won’t be exactly replacing Leonardo as PSG’s sporting director but he might be made a special advisor to the club’s president, Nasser Al Khelaifi.
Al Khelaifi told Le Parisien: “We’re talking to him about his future career choice. He could be an ambassador or an advisor.”
The Qatari also said that though he was upset about Leonardo stepping down, the club will continue achieving the goals.
He told L’Equipe: “The project stops for no-one. PSG today has more than 200 employees, including the players. The club is growing very quickly, and nothing and no-one will stop that growth from continuing.
“Nothing can slow us down. We’re continuing to build our team and our club to become a major European challenger in the years to come.”
