David Luiz feels a bad first half cost Chelsea the game against Liverpool
David Luiz didn’t have the best of welcomes on his return to the Premier League as the Brazilian saw his Chelsea side succumb to their first defeat of the season at the hands of Liverpool on Friday night. Jurgen Klopp’s men went ahead early as poor marking from the Chelsea backline allowed Dejan Lovren score from close range with no one marking him.
The Reds doubled their lead when Jordan Henderson curled in an outstanding effort from 25 yards out beyond Thibaut Courtois. Diego Costa gave the Blues hope when he scored at the hour mark, however, the Blues were unable to find the equaliser.
Luiz was playing in his first game for Chelsea since his deadline day move from Paris Saint-Germain after skipper John Terry was ruled out with an injury. Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s official site, the Brazilian quipped, "Liverpool controlled the game in the first half with a lot of possession, changing position
"Their second goal was amazing, the first one was a quick free-kick and we must pay attention to this sort of thing because they started better than us.
"The second half we controlled the game, almost scored a second goal to draw and of course it is not a good night for us but we’ll keep fighting for the next games.
"This is the Premier League. When you make a mistake and don’t pay attention, particularly from the free-kick, you pay."

Antonio Conte will now to get his side back to winning ways when he takes his team to pay a visit to Leicester in a third-round clash of the League Cup. Claudio Ranieri’s men seem to have shaken off their 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool, going on to win their next two games in the Champions League and the Premier League.

Luiz had left Chelsea a couple of years back for Paris Saint-Germain who came calling with £50 million, which at that time was a world record fee for a defender. The 29-year-old returned to Chelsea earlier this summer after winning six trophies in France over the last couple of years as the Londoners shelled out £30 million for his services.
And the fan favourite at Stamford seems to happy at being back in the thick of the action in the Premier League.
"I am very happy to be back playing these sort of games, the best games in the world," Luiz said. "But I am just a bit sad because I didn’t start how I wished.
"Now I am looking forward to the other games, they never stop. We need to improve, we need to do better to win games."
