David Luiz should say no to Barcelona

So the inevitable has happened and Barcelona have made an official bid for David Luiz.

The bid, reported as being cash only, will test the resolve of the club, which has maintained that Luiz is not for sale, and help the fans determine whether Luiz sees his future at Stamford Bridge.

I do not believe we will sell David Luiz, we are not a selling club and are unlikely to be intimidated by Barcelona’s stature.

My initial reaction is that unless the bid is north of £50m, Chelsea should not even consider the offer, dismissing it out of hand.

The only way I see this happening is if David Luiz tells the club he wants to leave and even then the club is in a position to extract maximum value.

Selling Luiz would mean we would need to replace him and there are not a lot of ready-made replacements that would cost less than Luiz available at the moment, with most of the transfer window already behind us.

Now is not the time to be unsettled and we should not allow ourselves to be pushed around by Barcelona.

David Luiz – Cult Hero

David Luiz has matured at Chelsea and although he can be frustrating at times, he is a cult figure amongst fans. His committed style, flair play and outlandish personality have won him admirers on and off the pitch.

Therefore I would like to ask David Luiz to ignore the bid from Barcelona.

The club loves you and we want you to be part of what we know will be an amazing period under Jose Mourinho.

Let’s tell the Catalan club that they can admire but they cannot touch the talents at Chelsea.

I will await official comment from the club and Luiz with interest.
