Del Bosque: "Fabregas and Costa not guaranteed of a start in Spain side"
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has expressed doubts about the automatic selection of Chelsea stars Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas in his starting XI after their comeback from injuries.
“Maybe when Costa and Cesc return, another player will have taken their place. That’s not a threat, it’s reality. My responsibility has always been to search for normality, the best thing for our football”.
The World Cup and European Cup winning manager praised his side’s young guns singling out real Madrid starlet Isco.
“Isco is an attacking midfielder with the natural ability to perform other tasks”
The 63-year-old said that Spain is going through a transformation but it won’t take long.
“You have to be optimistic about the future. It is difficult to replace Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Villa or Fernando Torres so soon. But I think we are close”.
“They are good players who are well educated. They are extraordinary. On one hand they are leaving a bad time [for the team] but on the other they are enriching and uplifting it. Bernat has only just left his village, Bruno has a great understanding. Morata...”.
He also discussed his teams’s form.
“We went a lot of games without losing and we lost one, in Slovakia. There is a lot of balance and any team will make things difficult”.
