Did Robert Lewandowski beat a BVB fan?

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski denies any assault charges against him.

A 17-year-old was allegedly struck in the face by Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski  after a confrontation outside his Dortmund home, believed to have stemmed from the Polish striker’s summer move to Dortmund rival Bayern Munich, reports Fox Sports.

The news was further confirmed by Dortmund spokesman Sacha Fligge when he spoke to German sports network Sport1.

“Several teenagers offended and berated Robert in the presence of his wife,” Fligge said. “According to his own account, he then stepped out of his car and put his hand on the teen’s shoulder and asked him why he was doing that.”

The teenager apparently answered, “because you make too much money and are going to Bayern.”

BvB chief Hans-Joachim Watzke cheif revealed: “I’ve spoken with Robert. I believe him. We stand by him with everything we have,” Watzke said.

Lewandowski, on the other hand, has released a statement on Facebook which basically says that he denies the accusation and wishes to move forward and focus solely on his playing at Dortmund.

(Translation: Today’s situation near my home forces me to react before the medias create yet another sensation. I don’t intend on teaching some cocky 17 year old boys manners, but I won’t allow myself or my family to be insulted. I furthermore deny using violence towards the individuals who publicly violated my privacy. I hope that this is only an isolated incident so that for the remainder of the season I can solely focus on my game for BVB!)
