Diego Forlan eager to play for Uruguay's Penarol
Montevideo, Dec 5 Striker Diego Forlan, currently playing in Japanese club Cerezo Osaka, has expressed his interest in playing Uruguayan club Penarol.
"Penarol is always an option. It would be disrespectful not considering it as the first choice," Forlan said Thursday, reports Xinhua.
"This is exciting for the people and for me too, but we will have to see," said Forlan, who was voted the best player of the 2010 World Cup.
"I have no regrets at all for coming to Japan. I am enjoying despite I am going through a peculiar moment," he said.
Earlier, Forlan declared he would not play for Penarol because he felt he could not produce his best form for the club at the fag end of his career. When he was young, he had a fleeting presence in the Uruguayan club.
Diego's father, Pablo Forlan, was once a star player of Penarol in the 60s.
