Dortmund sign Turkey teenager Mor

Emre Mor

BERLIN (Reuters) - Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund have signed 18-year-old Turkey player Emre Mor on a five-year contract to 2021 as they look to boost their squad for next season.

Dortmund, who also lost to champions Bayern Munich in the German Cup final, signed midfielder Sebastian Rode from champions Bayern Munich last week and are close to agreement with Marc Bartra from Barcelona.

Mor, born and raised in Denmark, joins from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland. He has also been included in Turkey's Euro 2016 squad.

"Emre Mor is a highly gifted and versatile young player with tremendous development potential," said Dortmund's sports director, Michael Zorc.

Dortmund have already seen Mats Hummels and Ilkay Guendogan leave since the end of the season, with the former joining Bayern and the latter signing for Manchester City.

There is also speculation regarding the future of playmaker Henrikh Mkhtaryan and midfielder Nuri Sahin.

Here is the statement released by Borussia Dortmund on their official website:

Eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund have completed another new signing for the coming season, with Emre Mor set to make the switch to Champions League football from Danish top-flight outfit FC Nordsjaelland

"Emre Mor is a highly gifted young player with considerable versatility in attack and huge development potential," emphasised BVB Sporting Director Michael Zorc.

Mor, currently 18, was born in Denmark and grew up there but also has a Turkish passport. The winger recently completed his first international matches and has been named alongside fellow Black and Yellow Nuri Sahin in Turkey's squad for the European Championships.

"BVB is a wonderful club in Europe with unique fans. I am immensely looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and can hardly wait for the season to begin and to make my debut appearance for Borussia," the youngster said.

Mor made 13 appearances in the 2015/16 Danish Superliga, scoring two goals and racking up two assists. He has signed a five-year contract with Borussia Dortmund which runs until 30 June 2021.

Emre Mor’s signing comes rather soon after Dortmund confirmed the signing of Sebastian Rode and Marc Bartra, with the Schwarzgelben also signing Ousmane Dembele earlier in the summer. Tomas Tuchel has placed a clear emphasis on youth, with Christian Pulisic, Weigle and Merino all being youngsters as well.
