The 17th of April 2015 has turned into a disastrous day for Mumbai FC who see their manager Khalid Jamil get a four-match ban after Dane Pereira was handed an indefinite suspension for failing a drug test. The incident in question took place on the 7th of April when Khalid Jamil set onto the pitch and was allegedly struck by a missile. Bengaluru FC assistant coach, Pradyum Reddy, was suspended for the same number of matches for using abusive language. Both were charged under Article 58 under Section 3 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code.
Article 58 states - 'Anyone who insults someone in anyway, especially by using offensive gestures or language, will be sanctioned with a match suspension. If the perpetrator is a player, he will be suspended for at least two (2) matches; if he is an official, he will be suspended for at least four (4) matches.
“If the victim of the attack is the AIFF itself or one of its bodies, the duration of the suspension will be doubled (+100%); the sanction applies to all official matches. A minimum fine of Rs. 5,00,000/- shall be pronounced.'
