DSK Shivajians win their third match in a row in the U-19 I-League; defeat Mumbai FC 3-1

DSK Shivajians continued their winning streak in the U-19 I-League as they defeated Mumbai FC 3-1

(Mumbai, 26th December)  DSK Shivajians continued their 100% record in the Under 19 I-League when they came back from behind to defeat Mumbai FC 3-1 at the Cooperage Football Stadium on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.

The match started slowly with both teams trying to feel their way into the game. The first half did not see a lot of chances develop as a moment of brilliance from Karthik Yenurkar after a shuffle inside the box gave Mumbai FC the lead against the run of play. The goal meant that the home team went into the dressing room with a valuable lead at the end of the first half.

The second half was a different story as DSK Shivajians piled the pressure on Mumbai FC. A brace from Patrick mid-way through the half put DSK Shivajians back on track and a third from Lallianzuala saw DSK Shivajians register third win in three matches.

Dave Rogers, Head Coach, Liverpool International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians said, “A match against Mumbai FC at Cooperage was always going to be tough. They came in the match with a game plan, and they managed to keep us at bay throughout the first half. They also scored a delightful goal against the run of play to send us trailing at the half time.”

“However, we adapted to the situation and changed a couple of things in the second half. Players showed a lot of character and determination in their performance as they came back from behind to seal all three points in the second half. It was the first time our team conceded first in a match and the response was absolutely fantastic.”

DSK Shivajians now host Kenkre FC at the DSK Dream City Football Field on 28th December, 2014.
