Reports: €115 million-rated striker offered to Real Madrid; Chelsea to hijack deal
What's the story?
Old teammates and friends Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte are all set to go to battle in the transfer market - and they may not even wait for next summer to come rolling around.
Chelsea and Real Madrid are set to be on the lookout for the same charismatic striker and it all started in a rather peculiar manner.
Two grown men serving at the highest echelons of their chosen profession spent much of last weekend bickering like batty old neighbours - and well, that's all we have been able to talk about. To be fair, it's not often we see the likes of Neymar Jr. and Edinson Cavani have at it like petulant ten-year-olds in a schoolyard and it's quite natural that much merriment has been derived from their ridiculous antics when PSG took on Lyon and scraped to a 1-0 win.
While it may not have affected the end result of the game, what the constant bickering ensured was to keep the rumour mills around the footballing world spinning... with reports emerging that Neymar wants his long-haired Uruguayan mate out of the team (take those with a pinch of salt, eh?)... and we all know by now that what the little Brazilian elf wants, the little Brazilian elf gets.
Which explains why Zizou and Conte are sat on opposite ends of the table trying to lure PSG's superstar striker to their team - if the good folk at Sky Sports are to be believed PSG have offered Cavani to Real Madrid, while over at the Metro they insist that Chelsea are interested in the Uruguayan and are considering a swoop for him and hijacking the deal that Real Madrid are interested in.
In case you didn't know
It is most natural that Cavani's name has become linked with two of the best clubs on the continent - both of whom could easily find some space for a man who has NOT scored below 25 goals a season for over 7 years now!
The heart of the matter
PSG are in a spot of bother with UEFA and its FFP regulations breathing down their necks and as much as Nasser Al-Khelaifi insisted that he's not worried, he knows that the sale of a prized asset (Cavani's valued at around about €115 million by the Parisians) will definitely help solve the situation.
This is despite Unai Emery saying that he wants Cavani and Neymar to sort out their problems - Khelaifi, like many of us, seems to have forgotten there's an actual manager in charge at the club to handle these things.

Author's Take
Cavani has been shunted out for quite sometime now and it's only natural he feels irritated at the treatment being meted out to him... however he is vital to PSG's gameplan and they may not be as willing to sell as him as many report it.
Besides, with him being cup-tied in the Champions League any move to a major club is bound to happen only in the summer - but both Real Madrid and Chelsea would doubtless welcome him into their fold
