East Bengal to celebrate Foundation Day on 1st August
It has been reported by the East Bengal officials in a press meeting that the Kolkata giants Kingfisher East Bengal will observe their Foundation Day on 1st August. As part of the celebration, they are organizing a special function in the club premises where they will felicitate former East Bengal players.
Ahmed Khan, one of the finest players in the 1950’s, who also played for the ‘Red and Gold Brigade’ from 1949-59 and captained the East Bengal side in the year 1954, will be honored with the ‘Bharat Gourav Award’.
Prasanta Sinha and Santo Mitra will be honored with ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ for their dedication to the club. Another former star Ilyas Pasha, who has served for 10 years, will also be felicitated on that day.
Besides these star players from the club’s early days, the club will honour midfielder Penn Orji with the ‘Golden Boot Award’ for his stunning performance for the team last season which helped the ‘Red and Gold Brigade ‘ win the Kolkata League and reach the second position in the I-league.
