Schattorie all set to replace Armando Colaco as East Bengal's new coach
It seems that the era of Armando Colaco will be over for Kingfisher East Bengal FC. The club officials are pressurising the Goan coach to resign from the post of head coach. Club officials are not satisfied with the coach and have decided to sack him if he does not resign. Poor performance in the I-League and Federation Cup are the main reasons behind this.
But club officials are saying that Armando’s health has deteriorated and he is unable to come to the practice sessions It is also true that the former Dempo coach was sometimes unavailable in the last month for his health issues.
Armando was coach of this Kolkatan club for 15 months. During this time, East Bengal won the Calcutta Football League twice and were the runners-up of the I-League last season. In the last federation cup, East Bengal were knocked out in the group stage, and currently have 9 points from 6 matches in league and are fourth in the league.
On the other hand, club officials have decided to replace him by former Prayag United coach Eelco Schattorie. He is already in the city and it seems that we have to wait a little longer for the official announcement. Though club president Kalyan Majumder did not utter anything about the new coach, it is clear from another club official that the Dutch manager will be the new coach.
Armando was seen leaving the club premises on Wednesday evening and when he was asked if he was resigning, he refused to comment. But he dropped enough hints that he could be on his way out. Fans and followers are expecting to hear the official announcement of the new coach soon.
