EFL Cup third round draw
The third round draw for the English Football League (EFL) Cup, popularly known as the League Cup, took place late last night after the commencement of the second round fixtures.
The third round ties will be played between September 20-21 for a place in the quarterfinals up for grabs. 16 Premier League teams will be on show with four of the sixteen clashes set to be an all Premier League affair.
Cup holders, Manchester City will visit the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea. The other all Premier League clashes include Southampton's home game against Crystal Palace and Hull's away trip to face Stoke. The biggest match of the third round will be played at the home of the champions, as Leicester welcome Chelsea, who narrowly made it to the third round after a hard fought 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers.
Nottingham Forest welcome Arsenal, while Tottenham visit Gillingham Town, managed by Justin Edinburgh, who won the FA Cup with Spurs in 1991. Gillingham are into the third round, courtesy of a win over Watford in extra time. Everton face Norwich at Goodison Park while Liverpool face a tricky task away to Derby.
The Reds have won 9 League Cups, the most in the history of English football. Newcastle welcome Wolves which happens to be an all Championship Clash.
Northampton have been given a huge task as they welcome Manchester United, after they beat West Brom on penalties to enter the third round. Northampton have faced United before, back in 1970. The game being famous for George Best scoring six goals in an 8-2 victory for the Red Devils.
Northampton are unbeaten since January as they won the League two last season.
