Emmanuel Adebayor: "AVB disrespected me"
The Togolese striker recently scored a brace for Tottenham in their recent fixture against Southampton at St Mary’s stadium. Emmanuel Adebayor‘s brace and Jos Hooiveld own goal was enough for Tottenham to beat the Saints at the St Mary’s stadium.
According to Goal.com, Emmanuel Adebayor revealed that recently sacked Spurs coach Andre Villas Boas disrespected him and also did not give him sufficient playtime. Adebayor was pushed down the pecking order and was ignored ahead of Roberto Soldado and Jermaine Defoe.
In an interview with BBC sport, Adebayor said that: “It was difficult. When I come to train and see the team picture, which I’m not involved in, that shows me a lot of disrespect.”
“I’m a professional footballer, I had to keep my head up and I did what they asked me to do.”
“Now everything is paying off. I kept doing my thing and this is my glory time. I’m very happy.”
“I thank the players and the staff, they have given me my confidence back and they said ‘we know how good you are’. I didn’t want to let them or the fans that believe in me down.”
Adebayor has so far scored 28 goals in his career at Tottenham since his departure from Manchester City.
