Emmanuel Adebayor told Roberto Mancini to Google him!

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed the rather peculiar way he responded to criticism from Roberto Mancini during his time at Manchester City.

Roberto Mancini took over as manager of Manchester City from Mark Hughes in December 2009 and the Italian began to overhaul the squad as he aimed for success with the Citizens.

Adebayor was plying his trade for the club at the time, but struggled when Mancini joined the club to get first-team action. The Spurs striker, whose club recently sacked manager Tim Sherwood, has revealed what he told Mancini when the Italian told him he did not score enough goals.

In an exclusive interview with Fabrice Muamba for the Express, Adebayor told the former Bolton man that he told Mancini to ‘Google him’.

Adebayor: “Mancini always had his way and then whenever he went into the club he was, like, I don’t want you. I want Balotelli to come and play for me because your scoring rate is not that good. I thought, OK, maybe you are talking about another Adebayor. I told him to go on the internet.”

Muamba: “Is that what he told you?”

Adebayor: “That is what he told me. That my score ratio was not good enough to play for Manchester City. I was, ‘OK, if that’s the case, just Google me.’ Go on the internet.”

Muamba: “You didn’t tell him to Google you!”

Adebayor: “Of course I told him.”

Muamba: “You told him to Google you?”

Adebayor: “Of course. Google me and you will see I have been in this league for four or five years before going to Manchester City. Google me and see what I have done in this league. If I am not shooting enough, how am I going to score? I have put the ball into the net, how?”
