EPL 2016-17: Sergio Aguero says John Terry is one of the toughest players he has played against

Manchester City star striker Sergio Aguero has named Chelsea stalwart John Terry as one of the toughest players he has ever played against. Aguero has 8 goals so far in the Premier League this season under new City boss Pep Guardiola and is surely looking to go ahead of Premier League top scorer Diego Costa in the race for this season’s Golden Boot.

Aguero has been leading the line spectacularly for City since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and has notched up 150 goals for City already with 110 of those coming in the Premier League itself.

The Argentine striker was in conversation with Nissan, who are the official global automotive sponsor of the UEFA Champions League when he was asked about the toughest players he had played against.

“Nowadays it’s difficult to choose! The most difficult I’ve faced would be (Sergio) Ramos, another one would be (John) Terry, and I can also name a goalkeeper, (Iker) Casillas,” said Aguero.

Aguero was quick to name Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and Chelsea’s John Terry and also Ilker Casillas all three of whom are world class players.

City and Chelsea will be facing each other on December 3 in the Premier League

John Terry currently cannot find his way into Antonio Conte’s Chelsea back-three of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta, who have conceded no goals in six games on the trot, with the Italian boss preferring to stick to the in form three.

It has been a remarkable turnaround for Chelsea who were leaking in goals earlier in the season, conceding 2 against Liverpool at home and 3 against Arsenal away while fielding a back four.

Terry, however, played for the Blues development side along with Cesc Fabregas and Michy Bathshuhayi against Southampton as the three aim to try and get back into the side.

Chelsea play Manchester City on December 3rd and both sides will look to gain superiority over each other in the game and it’s a mouth-watering prospect, keeping in mind that it will be a clash of the tactical masterminds, Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola. The game could open up the title race if City manage to beat the Blues who are the most in-form team in the league.

Terry and Aguero have faced each other a number of times and have got the better of each other in some games but it has always been an interesting contest when the pair play each other. However, Terry might not start against City considering the form of Chelsea’s current back three.

When asked about other best and most exciting players he has played with, Aguero stated that it was undoubtedly his Argentine teammate Lionel Messi and gave special mentions to his City teammate David Silva and Argentine compatriot Javier Mascherano.

“Well, the three players… obviously [Lionel] Messi,” Aguero added.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are looking to put a string of wins and good performances together after stuttering over the last few months and Aguero will be looking to add more goals to his tally and help City win a trophy this season.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal respectively make up the top four in the Premier League and are battling it out for the title this season.
