EPL 2016-17: Tottenham vs Liverpool - Predicted starting XI for Spurs
Tottenham maintained an unbeaten start to their Premier League season after leaving it late to beat Crystal Palace. Victor Wanyama's winner secured all three points for the London side as they welcome Liverpool next at White Hart Lane. The Reds have emerged as Spurs' bogey team in recent years as Tottenham are yet to pick up three points at the Lane since 2012 when they beat Liverpool 2-1.
Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp are two of the best tacticians in England and it is going to be an interesting battle between the two young sides. Liverpool have been inconsistent under Jurgen Klopp as on some days they shred their opponents to threads with their fast paced football but on same can't get passed a low block. Spurs, on the other hand, want to replicate last season's success and make a spot in the top four theirs this season too.
Liverpool have some injury concerns as Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi are not expected to start and will be on the bench. Emre Can is expected to miss tomorrow's clash along with Mamadou Sakho and Loris Karius. Spurs, on the other hand, will just miss the services of club captain, Hugo Lloris and Moussa Dembele. Let's take a look at the predicted lineup for Spurs in their important home game against Liverpool
1) Goalkeeper and defenders
Michael Vorm
The former Swansea keeper will be the custodian for the London side in the absence of Hugo Lloris. He has done decently in the number of chances that he has got but has a task in his hand against the deadly attack of Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.
Kyle Walker
The right-back has been brilliant under Pochettino so far and provided an assist in the first game too. The right-back has combined his attacking runs with some resolute defending but will have to be at his best against Roberto Firmino and probably Coutinho in the second half.
Toby Alderweireld
The Belgian has been one of the best in the league since his arrival and will look to keep Liverpool's main man, Daniel Sturridge quiet throughout the course of the game.
Jan Vertonghen
With Alderweireld, the Belgian has formed a stellar partnership and Spurs are reaping the benefits of a settled centre-back partnership. The duo have played together since their academy days and will look to keep the Reds' attack silent.
Danny Rose
Rose has been a mainstay in Spurs' defence and must be up for the tough task at his hand. He will be up against the marauding Sadio Mane coupled with the overlapping runs from Nathaniel Clyne. Rose's performance will be crucial if Spurs want to keep a clean sheet against the Reds.
