EPL 2016/17: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Manchester City - Player Ratings
Manchester City’s unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end as they suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur. Mauricio Pochettino’s boys stunned Pep Guardiola’s City with a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane thanks to an unlucky own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov and a fine strike from English midfielder Dele Alli.
Spurs took the lead as early as in the 9th minute when left-back Aleksandar Kolarov miskicked Danny Rose’s cross from the left flank into his own goal. The second goal came from the foot of Dele Alli who combined well with Heung-Min Son inside the penalty box to claim the goal.

The Belgian centre-back played brilliantly at the heart of the defence pairing up with Toby Alderweireld and made sure their two-goal lead remained intact.
Toby Alderweireld – 8/10
Just like his partner Vertonghen, Alderweireld too displayed impressive performance against Manchester City and kept Sergio Aguero at bay for the entire match.
Danny Rose – 9/10
The English international left-back performed brilliantly today. Aleksandar Kolarov’s accidental own goal was from Danny Rose’s cross.
Kyle Walker – 8/10
Kyle Walker had a good outing as he displayed an energetic performance on the ground and kept a close eye on the Manchester City attackers.
Victor Wanyama – 8/10
Victor Wanyama did a great job in the central midfield and pulled off some quality tackles.
Dele Alli – 9/10
Dele Alli was simply superb on the pitch and scored the winning goal for Tottenham in the 37th minute after combining with Heung-Min Son. Alli covered a lot of ground and imposed a constant threat on the Manchester City defence.
Christian Eriksen – 8/10
Christian Eriksen, as usual, was extremely diligent in the attacking third and ran his team’s offence against the frail Manchester City backline. He came really close to scoring a goal from a free-kick.
Moussa Sissoko – 7/10
Moussa Sissoko had a decent outing operating mostly from the centre. The French man covered a lot of ground from box to box. Along with Wanyama, Sissoko made sure that the opponents’ attacks were decimated in the midfield itself.
Erik Lamela – 7/10
The Argentine midfielder played fairly well except for a disastrous penalty miss. He had the option of allowing Son to take it but he opted to take it himself and missed it.
Heung-Min Son – 8.5/10
The South Korean international has been a revelation this season and has successfully replaced star striker Harry Kane who is injured. Played exceptionally well with his clever movement and link-up play.
