Manchester United thrashed Everton 4-0 on Wayne Rooney's return to Old Trafford.

Goals from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial earned the Red Devils all three points, as Jose Mourinho's men moved level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Everton were well in the game until late on, when three United goals in the final 10 minutes added gloss to the final scoreline.

Here's a quick look at the player ratings for both sides:

Manchester United

Jose Mourinho will be pleased with his side's performance against Everton last night

David de Gea - 8/10

De Gea is often uninvolved in the action for large stretches of United’s home games, but his concentration is brilliant and he always responds even after long periods of inactivity. The Spaniard pulled off a superb stop to deny Sandro Ramirez and also did well to keep out efforts from Wayne Rooney and Tom Davies.

Antonio Valencia - 8/10

The right-back opened the scoring with a sensational strike from outside the box and was typically solid and robust thereafter.

Eric Bailly - 7/10

Bailly’s speed and athleticism gave him the edge on Rooney, although he was caught out on a couple of occasions. Overall, though, this was an effective performance from the Ivorian.

Bailly continued to be a resolute force in the heart of the Manchester United defence

Phil Jones - 7/10

This was another quietly commanding display from Jones, who has been tremendous so far this term. The former Blackburn man did not put a foot wrong throughout.

Ashley Young - 6/10

Young is a fine crosser of the ball, but question marks remain about his defensive competence. Most of Everton’s attacking success came down his side of the pitch.

Marouane Fellaini - 7/10

Fellaini will never be the most popular player at Old Trafford, but he is an excellent player to have within the squad. He did not do anything particularly pretty on Sunday, but the Belgian did provide steel in the middle.

Nemanja Matic - 8/10

Matic exudes authority at the base of midfield and was a stabilising presence again here. His passing is underrated and he has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. He also set up Antonio Valencia's goal with aplomb.

Juan Mata - 7/10

Mata was perhaps not as involved as he would have liked to be, but he showed his class on the ball whenever he got it.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 7/10

Despite occasionally being sloppy in his use of the ball, the Armenia international added another goal to his tally for the campaign. Mkhitaryan contributes so much in the final third, even when is not quite at his best.

Marcus Rashford - 6/10

A slightly disappointing afternoon for Rashford, who failed to make much of an impression on the left wing. Things improved for United when he was replaced by Lingard in the second period.

Romelu Lukaku - 8/10

Lukaku missed a fantastic chance in the first half, but he got his goal after the interval and contributed in the build-up too. He further assisted Mkhitaryan's goal and continued his smoking hot form.

Substitutes:

Jesse Lingard - 8/10

Lingard’s fresh legs helped United wrestle back the initiative in the second half, while it was he who flicked the ball on for Lukaku’s goal.

Ander Herrera - 7/10

Herrera, who has had to remain patient for playing time in the Premier League this term, helped to shore up midfield as Everton pressed for an equaliser.

Anthony Martial - 7/10

Although he did not have long on the pitch, Martial won and converted a penalty after an excellent run.
