English Premier League's most expensive XI based on transfer market values

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez’s market value today is £45.7 million

Just a few days remain for the close of January transfer window and the transfer market has not been as busy as the summer transfer window. With tons of rumours coming up, very few actually had some truth in it. However, we decided to make a team based on their current market values.

Remember, market value should not be confused with transfer fees of a player. e.g. Costliest player in the Premier League today i.e. Chelsea striker Fernando Torres‘s transfer fees was £50 million, but he misses the playing eleven because his market value currently is only £16.5 million.

The teams have been divided into four formations for better understanding:

4-4-2 and 4-4-2 diamond formations

4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations

As you can see, in all the four formations – the defense remains the same with Chelsea’s Petr Cech at the goal with the market value of £17.6 million.

The back-four has of one of the top Manchester United target Leighton Baines from Everton valued at £17.6 million. A long term Barcelona target, Chelsea’s David Luiz makes the team as well with market value of  £22.8 million. Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, valued at £30.8 million, partners the Brazilian as the other centre-half, while Tottenham’s Kyle Walker seems to be a surprise pick in the defence given his £16.7 million market value today.

Arsenal‘s Jack Wilshere, Chelsea’s Willian and Eden Hazard make it to all the four teams among midfielders. They are rated at £29 million£26.4 million and £39.6 million, respectively.

Manchester City defensive midfielder Fernandinho and Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil makes it to three out of four formations with the market value of £28.1 million and £44 million.

Manchester United’s best player Wayne Rooney could be included only in two of the possible four formations. His market value today is £39.6 million.

Liverpool’s talisman and the front runner for the Golden boot Luis Suarez makes it to all the formations with his market value being the highest of £45.7 million among all the players listed above.

As you can see, 4-2-3-1 formation is the costliest one with the net worth of the XI rising up to £330 million.
