Football Transfer News : Amauri Agent Rebuffs Palermo Rumors
Juventus striker Amauri will remain at Turin for the remainder of his contract, according to his agent Giampiero Pocetta. The 31 year old forward has received an unequivocal vote of confidence from the club authorities and will consequently see out the rest of his contract with Juve, according to Pocetta.
Amauri, after being a victim of inconsistency during the first part of the 2010-11 season, was loaned out to fellow Serie A club Parma in January. He rekindled his form there, putting in many industrious performances and scoring an impressive seven goals in just eleven appearances.
The player is in the last year of his contract at Juve, and his agent believes that he will honour that contract and stay on at The Old Lady. He said that Amauri was a vital player to Juve’s plans for next season and that the lanky frontman was looking forward to it.
He said, speaking to Sportmediaset-
“Amauri is an important player for Marotta. He is in the final year of his contract and what is certain is that he will return to being a Juventus player,”
“The player is currently on holiday, and when he returns he will be with Juventus.”?
Amauri has been linked with a number of clubs over the past few weeks, including Napoli, Scudetto winners AC Milan, Palermo and Parma as well. The Palermo president was extremely impressed with Amauri’s figures and shifts put in over the five months he was at Parma. He said that Palermo would be more than happy to sign Amauri, but his astronomical wage demands were proving to be a stumbling block.
Speaking to Radio Radio, president Zamparini said-
“Amauri is one of the best strikers we have in Italy, but I cannot take him as his wages are too high.”
“If he reduced his wages to €1 million a year then I would take him back instantly, but he earns €4m and we cannot afford this.”
Amauri’s agent rebuffed all rumours concerning Palermo however, and declared that he had never interacted with Zamparini. He said-
“Palermo? I have never spoken to the president [Zamparini].”
Amauri played for Palermo before joining Juve in fact, and moved to Turin in 2008 for a hefty fee of 22.8 million Euros. The Brazilian born Italy international has found the going a tad tough in Juve, but if his agent’s quotes are to be believed, then it seems Amauri is willing to fight it out and battle for a place in the first team next season.
