EPL Transfer Rumour: Vincent Janssen in London to conduct talks with Tottenham

Janssen scored 32 goals in all competitions last season

AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen has been in outstanding form, since signing for the Eredivisie side at the start of last season. The 21-year-old scored 32 goals for his club and also made his debut for the Netherlands national team.

His impressive performances have caught the eye and reports in the Dutch media suggest he could be packing his bags again soon. According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Janssen was in London on Tuesday to hear Tottenham’s future plans for the club, as they are hoping to convince him to sign for the club.

It is reported AZ Alkmaar have set an asking price of €15m for the player, and that shouldn’t be a big gamble for the Premier League side. Earlier, reports in the Dutch media claimed Everton, Manchester United, and Paris-Saint Germain had also scouted the player in the Eredivisie last season.

Tottenham are likely to be the player’s priority over Everton, whilst Manchester United must have moved on to other targets after the appointment of Jose Mourinho, so the North London side appears to be in the pole position to sign him.

The player made his debut for the Netherlands against England at Wembley in March, where he delivered a match-winning performance, scoring a goal and creating another one. We won’t be surprised if Tottenham had scouts watching him on that particular day and the player did well to convince them.

A gamble worth taking

Janssen, of course, could be a gamble but at a price of €15m, he is a risk worth taking and is still very young. The player has 3 international goals to his name in 5 games.

Meanwhile, reports in the Italian media suggest Roberto Mancini wants to sign Tottenham star Erik Lamela, who finally found his feet this season at the North London club after two years of disappointing performances.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Mancini has been asked by Chinese group Suning Holdings, who have purchased 70% stake in Inter for a reported fee of €270 million, to sign few quality players at the club and the former Manchester City boss wants Lamela at the Serie A club.

However, it’s unlikely Lamela would want to leave Tottenham this summer after they qualified for the Champions League. The 24-year-old had 11 goals and 10 assists to his name last season and Tottenham would be hoping the Argentine star signs a renewal soon.

Calciomercato reckon Mancini has tried to sign Lamela in the past but it seems he could be disappointed again. Frankly, there isn’t anything in the Lamela links yet, and the links to Janssen appear to be more concrete.
