Euro 2016 Fantasy Guru: Tips & tricks to pick your Fantasy team - the grand finale

Griezmann is a safe pick as captain for Euro 2016 fantasy final

Time for the grand finale of Euro 2016. After all the excitement that lasted for a month, Portugal and France have made their way into the final that will be played in Paris on Sunday night.

For the final round of Euro fantasy, picking the team is very straight forward.

There are two teams and 15 players to pick. You can pick a maximum of eight players from one team. Since there is only one game in this round, you need to make sure that your starting XI is full of players who are sure to start the game.

France are the obvious favourites here and if history is anything to go by, then the hosts are going to lift the trophy as they have won a FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro that was hosted in France. In addition, France have beaten Portugal in the 10 previous meetings. The last time Portugal beat France was back in March 1975. Also, Les Blues have played Portugal in three major tournament games and have won them all.

I prefer to go by my gut feeling and hence I picked 8 French players in my starting XI as opposed to just 3 Portuguese players.

Also a gentle reminder – If you have a wildcard available then go ahead and use it as you won’t be needing it after this game.

Whom to pick and who should be your captain?

Here are the players I would suggest that you pick from both sides:

France: Hugo Lloris, Bacary Sagna, Patrice Evra, Laurent Koscielny or Samuel Umtiti, Dimitri Payet, Paul Pogba, Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann.

Portugal: Rui Patricio, Cedric Soares, Raphael Guerreiro, Joao Mario, Andre Gomes, Renato Sanches and Cristiano Ronaldo or Nani.

It is obvious that these are the players you have to pick. The deciding factor in this round is the player you choose as captain. You can go for the obvious choices like Cristiano Ronaldo or Antoine Griezmann. You can also go for out of the box picks like Nani, Dimitri Payet, Hugo Lloris or a French defender. These type of picks are risky but can boost your score massively if they do well and are sure to separate you from the pack if they come good.

Formation and starting XI

My team for the final of Euro 2016

You can go for an attacking formation with just three defenders if you think that both teams will concede goals. However, if you believe that France are going to outclass Portugal or vice versa then go for defenders from that team.

If you want to play it safe then just pick 5 players from one team and 6 from the other in your starting XI.

That is all from me on Euro fantasy tips. I hope I was of help to you guys. Good luck and see you all back at Sportskeeda before the start of Fantasy Premier League.
